Summer is here, or at least it has arrived in Europe where spring has been exceptionally warm and dry so far.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, the weather has been exceptionally wet and cool. Welcome to Seattle!

Like every year, Learn French in Seattle will be closing down in mid-June for the summer.

My family and I are off to the United Kingdom, France, and Spain in a few days and are very excited about the upcoming trip.

Most group classes and private sessions will resume after Labor Day, next September.

Don't hesitate to email me in the meantime if you would like more information about our programs, but please note I am unable to check voice messages while I travel abroad.

In the meantime, I wish you all a sunny, fun-filled summer, wherever you may be.

Keep in touch. I will, via my blog:

This has been the coldest winter recorded in France in the last 40 years! My family and I have just spent two wonderful and hectic weeks in the City of Light. My son and his cousins even had snow ball fights in the streets on a couple of occasions! If you would like to read more about our fun December 2010 trip, please visit my blog at

We came back just in time to celebrate the New Year in Seattle with our friends. Even though the weather is nothing to cheer about, I feel excited about the next three months -- Here is why:

I will be presenting my popular travel workshops at Bellevue College on Saturday February 5. If you live in the Seattle area, sign up soon. They are filling up fast! Additional information is here

Several new students have signed up for private French lessons this winter. Look up my rates for private tutoring. Inflation? What inflation? My rates have not changed for the last 5 years! check out for yourself

I am looking forward to writing more fun and informative posts on my brand-new blog, frenchgirlinseattle.blogspot.com -- Look me up if you want to learn more about the French language, France and all things French!

I wish you all a very Happy New Year! Vive 2011! Parlons français!

Veronique.

C'est Noël! Christmas is here… Well, almost.

After a busy year speaking French with my students, I am about to fly to Paris for a couple of weeks with my family.

This is a very exciting time of year for us, as we reconnect with relatives, old friends, and the amazing city of Paris. Christmas is a very special time to visit the French capital and I have heard the new Christmas lights are breathtaking!

Cold weather will be greeting us at Charles de Gaulle airport in a few days, but not to worry, we have rented a cozy apartment in the 11th arrondissement downtown. Once we move in, we will be Parisians once again…

As always, I will be looking for exciting new French language materials that I will be sharing with my students when I return.

I would like to send a special Merci to all of you who have inquired about my services this year, have hired me as your French teacher, or participated in one of our fun travel workshops.

Let us meet again soon and parlons français!

Joyeux Noël, Happy Holidays to you and your family!

Amicalement,

Veronique

L'automne est arrivé! Fall is here!

I am excited to start teaching again after a long and busy summer spending time with my family in the Puget Sound area.

This fall, I will be meeting private students old and new, Monday through Friday, between 9:30am and 1:00pm. I still have a couple of slots open until Christmas so book yours early!

Potential students often ask where I meet les étudiants. Even though I teach weekly at my Woodinville Studio, you are likely to see me at several local coffee shops during the day, including Tully's Coffee stores in Woodinville and Clyde Hill, Victor's Coffee house in Redmond, or a favorite, the French Bakery in Kirkland. Some students might feel nervous at first to meet in a public place, but they quickly realize that it is easy to remain anonymous in big crowds. In addition, speaking French in a café is a useful skill to learn if one is going to visit France! So much of French life seems to be happening at neighborhood cafés.

I often get requests about beginner-level French lessons. This fall, my only group is an intermediate-level and we focus on French conversation. If you are interested in getting a new group started, I still have daytime openings. We only need 4 participants to meet, so contact me and let me know what your availability is.

Do you have co-workers who would like to learn French with a native instructor? Lunch time sessions can be easily arranged for you and your friends and I will be happy to meet you weekly at work if your office is in the area!

Finally, I have had several requests for a fall travel preparation workshop. This is an easy way to get introduced to the French language and learn essential expressions that will enable you to communicate with confidence as soon as you land in France! This fun, fast-paced program will be held at my Woodinville teaching studio on Saturday October 16, from 1:30pm to 4:30pm.

Learn more and sign up here. Space is limited!

A bientôt!
